Afterlife in an Infinite Universe October 11, 2005

It’s like this: just because you didn’t see it physically happen, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. The world operates independant of your dirrect involvement, but you are unable to see the indirect effects of your actions and their consequences on a regular basis. I imagine your death would be similar. Kind of like a drop of water on an open lake – wavelengths in all directions. Your actions and their consequences carry on a life of their own, even as your name is forgotten you have changed things forever.
That aerosol hairspray you’re using – a negative change that outlives you. That fuel efficient car you drive in, and maybe even the one you crash to your death in – a blessing to the future environment and a sorrow for the children who yearn to have met you. So many things you do change everything. You are the things you do.
In a way, this life can transcend time and space without any mythology necessary.
Live your life instead of trying to live the dream.

I thought this looked familiar. I replied to your comment in my LJ so I’m not going to reiterate here. Too laaaaaaaazy.
